Description:
The Palacio de Comunicaciones de Madrid is a city landmark building. Located in the Plaza de Cibeles, was designed built by Antonio Palacios and Joaquin Otamendi to host the Post and Telegraph Company in Spain. The building, in a very personal style of the two architects. It has inspired in the late Gothic and Gothic. The building was designed as a "work of art" (in German, Gesamtkunstwerk) in which the smallest details, from lighting up the desks in the operating room or the ventilation system, form an artistic whole unit to serve its role as a Post Office. It is currently undergoing a major reform for conversion into City Hall by architect Partearroyo Rodriguez. |
